Hello awesome readers of rejuvenation. And that’s how the break came and went; everyone is back to work. I hope we were able to get enough rest and we utilized the break to hang out with family and friends? Trust that this new week will be awesome and hopefully stress free.
I have been doing a lot of thinking lately about the situation of things in this country. The quest of the rich to become richer and the not so rich getting their hands on stuffs that will in one way or another put food on their table (I’ve bought my own whistle from an online store). Mehn, Nigeria is blessed with great minds and intelligent people; but why is it that with the number of intellects we have in this country, the condition of the country is getting worse by the day? I feel it is because everyone keeps pointing accusing fingers and no one is ready to take responsibility. One major point of concern for me as a citizen of this country is the issue of unemployment and underemployment. This week, I am writing on something that would serve as a wake-up
It is high time we left our comfort zone and start leaving our mark in the sand of time. For so many unemployed like me, let us stop complaining about how many places we have sent our applications to or how we have become guru in interviews because we have attended interviews even on behalf of our unborn children (lol). It is time to THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX. Everyone was created with unique qualities, let us look for ways we can do things out of the ordinary and turn impossibilities to possibilities.
“Start thinking outside the box and find a solution for this problem”
Many of us take this expression as a cliché especially when something needs to be done in a team and no one seems to bring up ideas. However, we don’t need to wait until something needs to be done before we begin to think out of the box. It is no news that not until a typical human being finds himself/herself in difficulties; new ideas do not come up. What I mean is that when people find life easy and they have money to spend whenever they need it, they do not have the chance to think of something new to do. Let’s take for example; a student who has never failed before already has that belief that the method he uses in reading is what he will continue in. I’m not saying that it is not good for such student to do that but I feel that if the student steps up his game, instead of a 95%, he could get 98%. Therefore, my point is that there are loads of new twists that can be put into things that will bring about development in the country. There are many fashion designers, MUAs, photographers, event planners, etc out there; what makes the difference among them is the twist they put into what they do.
Thinking outside the box is a metaphor that means to think differently, unconventionally, or from a new perspective. Thinking outside the box means that you cast off the atmosphere that envelops you, step out of the box, leave all your experiences, mindsets and attitudes behind and start to view things from a completely different perspective: outside of the box; unfiltered, unbiased, open to suggestions, willing to empathize with others opinions, but also ready to swim against the flood and to think what no one else has ever thought of. It also means that you leave everything you thought you would know behind, everything that was taught to you in school and start to approach specific situations and problems from a completely different point of view than you did before.
The box in the expression is one symbol that can mean loads of things. Apart from it being a confinement, it can also mean someone’s ego. Some people just feel that they know too much and trust me, that alone is a ‘box’ that people need to come out from. It is not every time ‘do it the way I know how to, or the way I learnt how to’. Sometimes, that has to be dropped so that fresh ideas can come up and we can together make this country a better place for everyone to live in. Some other people are in ‘boxes’ that the society has put them into; like saying some jobs are meant for men while some are for women and some people just decide to live with that mentality.
In the course of the week, I would be writing on some principles I coined out for myself that I feel I should share with my readers on how we can think out of whatever ‘box’ we find ourselves in.
